Download “Explorer 540 M2M V1.04”

tt3715a_1_04_41.tiif – Downloaded 25 times – 48.81 MB
Major highlights of this release:
Note: This is a minor bugfix/update release based on the previous SW 1.03 baseline.

  • New Features:
    • Support for the EXPLORER Connect App. The EXPLORER Connect App for iOS and Android smartphones can now be used for the E540 with a wireless Access Point connected.
    • Please note:
      • The EXPLORER Connect App Satellite Phone can not be used if the E540 is running in M2M mode.
      • The “Pointing” and “Dashboard” App menu functions are not applicable for use with the E540.
  • Updated Features:
    • Power Save can now be controlled with the General Purpose Input (GPI) pin 1.
      • If Power Mode is enabled two modes can be used to enter Power Save: “Idle time” mode or “GPI” mode.
      • The function of the “Idle time” mode is unchanged compared to the previous release.
      • In “GPI” mode the E540 will enter or leave Power Save controlled by an Active or Inactive signal on GPI pin 1.
      • Note that in “GPI” mode the E540 will enter Power Save as soon as the GPI pin 1 becomes Inactive without other conditions (except for a possible “Grace” period) as opposed to the “Idle time” mode, where more condition may have to be fulfilled before the E540 enters Power Save.
      • In order to prevent the E540 to enter Power Save caused by misconfiguration the E540 has implemented a “Grace” period. First time the E540 is signalled (by Inactive GPI pin 1) to enter Power Save it will delay the entry into Power Save until the specified “grace” period has elapsed. The “Grace” period is active every time the E540 starts–up following a: Power cycle, a terminal reboot, TOD caused wake-up or other non-GPI requested start-up. The Grace period must be between 3 – 60 min. (Note that if the Inactivity signalling is removed before the grace period has elapsed a new grace period will start next time the Inactive signalling is set).
      • If the E540 has entered Power Saved caused by an Inactive signal on GPI pin 1 it can optional leave the Power Save if a Time-Of-Day value has been specified and reached. If the GPI pin 1 signal is still Inactive the E540 will only stay out of Power Save for the specified Grace period.
  • Notes about known Power Save limitations in “GPI” mode:
    • AT commands for Power Save settings: The AT (and SMS ATCO) command “AT_IPWSAVSCHD” can only be used to control Power Save when operating in “Idle time” mode. Do not us the “AT_IPWSAVSCHD” command if the Power Save mode via the Web settings has been specified as “GPI” mode, as it can cause confusing Power Save settings.
    • SW update: If the E540 is conduction a SW update (local or Over-The-Air) requesting the E540 to enter Power Save by GPI Inactive signalling may (depending on the timing) abort the SW update process. It is therefore not recommended to change the GPI signalling to Inactive during an ongoing SW update.
    • Terminal Watchdog: If the Terminal has entered Power Save due to GPI in 1 signal being inactive and the Terminal Watchdog wakes the terminal in order to execute its health check, the terminal will not enter Power Save again before the GPI pin 1 signal has gone Active and Inactive again.
  • Important User related bug fixes:
    • Support for voice call when a non-M2M E540 is operating in dual (BGAN & Cellular) mode. (80537).
      • Note: Voice service is still not allowed in M2M mode.
    • Corrected implementation of PAP authentication. (79064).
      • Handling of PAP authentication with empty password.
    • Handling of corrupted “_” character in SMS M2M commands. (79318).
      • Handling of corrupted “_” character observed from some GSM mobile network in cooperation with the BGAN network.
    • Delaying setup of configured PDPs until completion of the auto-install mode. (79079).
      • Setup of pre-defined PDPs are now delayed until the auto-install (including PDP verification) is completed.
